Dr. Darrow has been with Bavarian Veterinary Hospital since 1984. With his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from MSU, Dr. Darrow began his career of helping animals. His favorite part of veterinary medicine is interacting with pets and their owners, as well as working hard every day to keep them healthy and happy. When not at the clinic, Dr. Darrow enjoys fishing, outdoor motor sports, family activities, and sports. Their family pets include Mungus, an Old English Bulldog, Gomer, a Lab Mix, and feline Simba.
Kurt W. Kiessling

Since then, he has worked in multiple areas of the state before joining us in 2024. His favorite part of veterinary medicine has always been dealing with new puppies and kittens and helping them get established with their new families.
In his free time, Dr. Kurt enjoys spending time with his family and taking care of their farm. Their family pets include cattle, chickens, ducks, Boston Terriers and many barn cats!
Amanda

Amanda’s family pets include Mila, a Pug, sisters Blizzard and Cotton, boxers, Meme, a cat, and multiple birds and pocket pets.
Dominique
Veterinary Technician
People are drawn to veterinary medicine for many reasons, and Dominique’s passion has always been working on surgeries with the doctor and being able to review with clients their plans for home care after treatment, emergencies or surgeries. She often can be found following up afterward to make sure everything is on the right track. She has been an irreplaceable part of our team since 2012.
In her spare time, Dominique enjoys family time, gardening/yard work, camping, biking, kayaking, hunting, and fishing.
Her family pets include their “3rd child” Lenny- a Soft coated Wheaten Terrier, their two cats Domino and Piggy, and Timothy – her son’s tarantula.
Heather
Veterinary Assistant
Heather’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is cats, cats, cats! She finds them intriguing, playful and curious. Known as our office “cat lady”, she has been here since 1990 and often can be found handling our most stressed feline friends.
In her spare time, you’ll find Heather rock hunting, jewelry making, cat sitting, camping, hiking, watching movies, and sleeping. Heather shares her home with Toothless, a black kitty that loves to play fetch and provides her with daily entertainment.
Ashley C.
Receptionist
Ashley is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University – 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in science. Since 2011, she has been here getting to know our clients and their pets. Ashley enjoys watching them start as puppies and being with them as they grow. One of the special moments she enjoys most is seeing a pet owner’s excitement over a new kitten or puppy after going through the heartbreak of losing an older pet.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, playing taxi for her 3 children, camping, reading, and just being a mom. They also share their home with Flynn, a very sweet and excitable Irish-Doodle, and Peanut Butter, an outdoor kitty that adopted them and spends most of his day sleeping on the back of the couch.
Shannon
Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist
Shannon began her career here in 2024 and loves interacting with clients and their pets (especially Rottweilers!). She also enjoys learning new techniques and the ins and outs of both the front and back of the clinic.
In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her family which includes 3 cats (Jerry, Milo, and Olaf), dogs (Bella, Ember, and Rilee), and many chickens and ducks!
Cassie
Receptionist
Cassie has been the smiling face of our front desk since 2018. Her favorite part of her job is helping sick animals get healthy again.
She is the proud mom to Archie, a Frenchie who enjoys going on adventures and snuggling. In her spare time, Cassie also enjoys reading, traveling, and hiking, and is working towards earning her Marketing degree from Northwood University.
Mackenzie
Receptionist
Mackenzie joined our front desk staff in 2022, but actually began her career here as a high school intern back in 2016! In between, she pursued a degree at Hope College before finding her way back to us. Her favorite parts of veterinary medicine have always been seeing pets go home happy and healthy and that every day is different with something new to learn.
In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys spending time with her family, taking road trips up north, and pet sitting. Her family has recently grown with the adoption of her new rescue pup Dory, a super sweet Boxer/Pitbull mix.
Lindsey
Receptionist
Starting out with a bachelor’s degree in science from Ferris State University, Lindsey started her career in a veterinary clinic in Nashville before joining our front desk in 2023. She especially finds her job fulfilling when sick animals get healthy again with treatment and help from our staff.
In her free time, Lindsey enjoys reading, making candles, walking her dogs, and being a mom to her sweet baby boy. She too has a busy household with dogs Dobby and Stevie Nicks, and cats Thor and Finn that she loves to spoil.
